Nothing At All Happens To 28 Tibetan Protesters, Their Families

No one covers China like the Onion:

In a non-news event, which did not occur and therefore warrants no coverage, nothing at all happened to 28 Tibetan protesters and their screaming families this Monday.

Something new from Greg Laswell

I stumbled into Greg Laswell; the best way to discover music. I bought his new album Three Flights from Alto Nido from Amazon’s MP3 store as a “deal-of-the-day” for $3. Great deal—great music. Not Matt Kearney, not Snow Patrol, but I like the reminder of both.

The new Oxford English Dictionary for Mac—ugh

From TUAW.

Pros:

It’s the latest and greatest version from the “mother of all dictionaries.”
It includes the missing 2/3 of definitions the Macs built-in dictionary leaves out.

Cons:

Costs $300 ($212 @ Amazon)
Can’t save searches or search info.
Doesn’t talk with Macs built-in dictionary (even though they’re.. both.. Oxford… ?)
Ugly interface that doesn’t look like it belongs on a Mac.

Great. Oh, and I like this quote for TUAW’s lead-in:

If you make your living with words, and some of us around here at TUAW do, then a good dictionary is what you need.

Ha! Who are they kidding? I’d be impressed to learn they’d cracked open a thesaurus to write a post.

Robert Svensson – I Was Summer, You Were

His new single. My favorite line:

I was architecture, you were the wrecking ball.

PC World wants what it can’t have

PC World’s JR Raphael lists 10 things they (he) wanted to see announced at Apple’s WWDC. Here are a few:

1. The Apple Tablet

Although Apple has been known to deny the existence of products they are working on, even close to releasing, they have publicly said the market is not ready for a Mac tablet. Clearly they’re doing fine with the MacBook lineup.

3. The iPhone FM Transmitter

?! Someone was expecting a built-in FM transmitter? There isn’t bluetooth A2DP support yet. Personally I was hoping to see a new cassette adapter. Bummer. The reality is, FM is not the future. Why start supporting it now?

5. Adobe Flash Support

Wrong.

8. MMS and Tethering Support (That Can Actually Be Used)

I must admit when I saw these two features announced, but not available from AT&T yet, I felt like I just got ‘psyched.’ Not cool. The blame falls squarely on AT&T for this. Other carriers from around the world, who’ve had much less time with iPhones on their network, are onboard and ready for launch. When setting a list of priorities, usually your best customers’ needs come first, right? I’m looking at you AT&T.

Overall, it’s a list of things that no one really expected to see, either at this year’s WWDC or ever. You know what I wanted to see? The iPhone Micro with built-in support for toenail clippers. I’m so disappointed it wasn’t announced.
